Abstract: This article reviews the clinical application, biological requirements and clinical properties of barium sulphate contrast media used in diagnostic x-ray imaging. It also outlines the risk factors and associated adverse reactions and complications involved with the use of barium sulphate, and presents documented cases where iatrogenic injuries have resulted. 5.     The Development and Application of the Phototransferred Thermoluminescence (PTTL) Technique to the Routine Re-Assessment of Absorbed Dose in the National Dosimetry Service (NDS) Automated Personal Dosimetry System                     by Michel A. Periard (1985)

Abstract: The report studied the phenomena of phototransferred thermoluminescence (PTTL) to develop and apply a technique for the routine re-assessment of dose for the National Dosimetry Service (NDS) automated personal dosimetry system. The report (No. 86-EHD-126), published by authority of the Minister of National Health and Welfare Canada, is currently archived.

6.     Dose Re-estimation of Personal Dosemeters Using the Technique of Photo-Transferred Thermoluminescence

Abstract: The article presents the results of a laboratory study, an outline of the technique employed for re-assessment of personal dosemeters and an evaluation of the usefulness of repeated re-assessments of the same dosemeter and its potential application to the National Dosimetry Services (NDS) for dose re-assessment of personal dosemeters. 7.     Evaluation of the ATLAS (Automated TL Analyser System) for Use with the Extremity TLD Service - Technical Reports

Report 1: “Evaluation of the ATLAS (Automated TL Analyser System) for Use with the Extremity TLD Service” (TN 79-1A, October 1979) evaluates the operation of the ATLAS, manufactured by the Harshaw Chemical Company, Solon Ohio, to provide an automated TLD readout system for routine use with the Extremity TLD (Thermoluminescence Dosimetry) Service of the National Dosimetry Services (NDS). This report was for internal distribution only and is currently archived.

Report II: “Operation of the ATLAS for use with the Extremity TLD Service - Technical Operation Manual” (TN 79-1B, October 1979) was developed as an operator’s manual specifically for use by NDS staff. This report was for internal distribution only and is currently archived.

Report III: “Operation of the ATLAS for Use with the Extremity TLD Service - Dosimeter Processing System Revisions” (July 1981) presented procedural improvements, following almost two years of operational experience, to effectively streamline several steps in the dosimeter processing sequence and thus increase output efficiency with a view to expand the Service. This report was

8.     Calibration of a 137Cs gamma Source (Shepherd Model 142-10 Panoramic Irradiator) - Technical Report
