Michel A. Periard has accumulated over 30 years of experience working with federal, provincial and territorial government regulatory agencies and conducting radiation safety compliance inspections of medical, dental, non medical and industrial X-ray installations and equipment located across Canada. In addition to managing a National X-ray safety inspection program and a team of inspectors for the Consumer & Clinical Radiation Protection Bureau (CCRPB), Health Canada, his technical expertise includes conducting diagnostic X-ray imaging quality assurance program reviews and audits, x-ray equipment preventive maintenance program reviews, and evaluating structural radiation shielding design requirements of new and existing X-ray installations.
Michel has gained extensive experience working with Federal, Provincial and Territorial government departments involved in the regulation of X-ray equipment and the development, implementation and oversight of related occupational radiation health and safety programs.
Michel Periard has also accumulated a broad experience in radiation physics including research and development of nuclear radiation detection and measurement instrumentation for military applications while working at the Defense Research Establishment Ottawa (DERO), Department of National Defense, and also of personal dosimetry devices used to monitor cumulative radiation dose to occupationally exposed radiation workers while working for the National Dosimetry Services, Radiation Protection Bureau, Heath Canada.
